Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6) Test Programs
Obtaining detailed SF6 quality information by ALI’s ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited gas laboratory is an easy, rapid and straightforward process using ALI’s SF6 No-Haz recover & recycle “green” sampling & shipping kits. With our No-Haz kits you do not need a hazmat-certified staff member to legally and properly ship your samples – a critical advantage for ALI customers.
These kits can be used for testing new SF6 in cylinders or in-service SF6 from gas insulated equipment (GIE).
Alternatively, customer cylinders or high pressure SF6 sampling cylinders can be employed for testing when needed
We offer three basic types of SF6 Analysis Programs:
- ASTM SF6 Purity Program: Includes all ASTM-2472 tests associated with new or repurified SF6 cylinders.
- Standard In-Service Program: Includes all tests associated with ASTM-2472 / IEC-376 program and tests for common SF6 degradation products (ex. CF4, SO2, SOF2, HF). CIGRE in-service limits are offered as guidelines for data interpretation.
- Advanced In-Service Program (used primarily for GIE failure diagnostics): Includes all tests associated with ASTM-2472 / IEC-376 program and tests for common SF6 degradation products (ex. CF4, SO2, SOF2, HF) plus several other known SF6 degradation products that can assist in GIE failure mode investigations. CIGRE in-service limits are offered as guidelines for data interpretation.
