GOW-MAC Aromatic Analyzer® Series 200AHC-12 Benzene is a known carcinogen and is a common impurity in many types of Carbon dioxide (CO2) feedgas sources. The maximum ISBT guideline limit for trace benzene in beverage-grade Liquid CO2 (LCO2) is only 20 ppb v/v! Trace benzene monitoring has become a requirement for gas suppliers who provide LCO2 to soft drink manufacturers and breweries. In addition, because of the importance of this benzene test, many beverage manufacturers have also adapted a “trust-but-verify” philosophy and test every LCO2 load received at their plants. Competitor electronic benzene analyzers often produce erroneously high benzene results when common, interfering CO2 impurities are present. This can result in costly “false alarm”episodes involving production stoppage and unnecessary product recalls. The GOW-MAC Model 200AHC-12 analyzer however, is very specific for benzene and meets all ISBT Method 12.0 performance criteria. A special photo-ionization detector and proprietary mass separation technology are used to obtain highly selective and accurate benzene measurements. Benzene data is displayed in less than 3 minutes after “run start”. Continuous stream or batch sampling operations can be performed. If desired, other aromatic hydrocarbons can be speciated and monitored using a special “BTEX” version. The GOW-MAC Instrument Company 200AHC-12 system is also capable of 4-20 mA data logging and PLC control. Full operational documentation is provided, along with optional customer training and support services. The 200AHC-12 analyzer is designed for rugged, low cost, low maintenance, easy-to use automated operations. It can be bench-top or rack-mounted. A low flow of H2 support gas (30 cc/min)can either be supplied from a small cylinder - or by a compact, low flow H2 generator. ALI recommends use of a small H2 generator whenever possible. We can supply you with a state-of-the-art, “no-maintenance” H2 generator unit + generator-quality water. For operators already using THC and total sulfur analyzers, H2 support gas should be available. Unlike competitor benzene analyzers no expensive helium, oxygen, air or nitrogen support gases or complex permeation tube equipment or GC expertise are needed. 200AHC-12 calibration is very simple and quick to perform. Both calibration and sample introduction are totally automated.
