NFPA 99C Programs
Ensuring the purity and integrity of new gas distribution and vacuum systems is an important responsibility for many customers, especially hospitals, health care, medical, pharmaceutical and governmental lab facilities. Our staff is experienced in performing NFPA 99C certification testing on new gas distribution and vacuum systems used at many types of facilities. We provide on-site sampling, testing, equipment and consulting services. Our testing services cover the following aspects of this specification:
Installer Performance Testing: Piping Blow DownTest - Initial Pressure Test - Cross-Connection Tests - Piping Purge Tests - Standing Pressure Tests
System Verification Testing: Cross Connection Tests - Valve Tests - Outlet Flow Tests - Alarm Tests - Piping Purge Tests - Piping Purity Tests - Final Tie-in Tests - Operational Pressure Tests - Medical Gas Concentration Tests - Medical Air Purity Tests - Labeling
Piped Vacuum Systems: Minimum Vacuum & Operating Range Tests - Minimum Flow & Pressure Tests - Installer Performance Testing ( Blow Down - Initial Pressure - Initial Cross Connection - Standing Pressure) - System Verification Tests (Final Cross Connection - Vacuum - Valve - Alarm Source Equipment)
Medical Gas R&D, Programs & Products
ALI has performed gas standard validation work for USP and is active in improving the test methodologies, gas quality specifications and technical products described in USP technical literature. We can confirm medical gas composition to Gas Supplier or USP/NF grade levels. Gas analyzers, detector tubes - calibration gas standards - supplies and support equipment are also offered. Our staff is also experienced in performing medical gas or medical facility air contamination investigations.
Examples:
Medical Air USP Grade - used in respiratory treatments providing humidity to patients through nebulizers. Typical impurities: carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, odor agents
Carbon Dioxide USP – used as respiratory stimulant and as blanket gas in some surgical procedures. Typical impurities: hydrocarbons, sulfur compounds, benzene, nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, moisture
Helium USP – used as a component of breathing gas mixtures. Typical impurities: hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, oxygen, nitrogen, odor agents
Nitrogen NF - Used as a component of many medical gas mixtures. Typical impurities: oxygen, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, moisture, odor agents
Nitrous Oxide USP – used as an analgesic for the production of anesthesia. Typical impurities: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, ammonia, hydrocarbons, halogens, moisture.
Oxygen USP – used as emergency oxygen. Typical impurities: carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, halocarbons, odor agents
